Android sales up 800 percent
The market share claimed by Android smartphone handsets in the UK has grown by 810% in the past year, according to figures from research firm GfK. Smartphones claimed 48.7% of all handset sales and 83.1% of contract sales in February 2011 with Android dominating the smartphone operating system with a 34.1% share.
The figures show that Android handsets are starting to take a hold with consumers and with business buyers as more apps become available and confidence in the platform grows.
