Cisco App for Apple iPhone and RIM Blackberry
You’ve just sealed the deal! Success at last! Just one more thing, when can I have it by?
Having the information at your fingertips, even when out of the office can be essential. This is when mobile apps come into their own. Responding to feedback from customers, we are tackling this need and have launched our Cisco Application. This enables resellers to find the right Cisco Small Business solutions for their customers and check current stock availability of the products on Apple iPhones and RIM Blackberry devices.

Make your customers a promise you can keep this Christmas
One of the questions that a lot of customers always ask when they are buying a new laptop is, what happens if I get it home, or back to the office and it does not do what I need it to or thought it would do? Most users are not experts after all and they don’t always know what they’re own expectations are before they start using the system. This is why the new HP Business Promise is really good idea.

Lights, Camera, errrr nice buns…
So, you’ve won the deal, A.N.Other company is ditching their external conference bridge, they’re creating their on-premise audio/video collaboration (VC) system and the first thing they’re presented with is a high definition picture of your crotch…
Take this as a word of warning, for yes, you can spend umpteen amounts of cash on the very best quality audio and visual kit and make a pretty penny from a customer eager to enter the high definition experience that today’s infrastructure will allow. Yet the aesthetics of a conference room makes a world of difference, more importantly so does the lighting and placement of devices, whether they are video or audio.

Little People – This is the year for video!
I’ve decide to resign. I want to spend more time with the little people who live with the woman in the photo on my desk.
Ok, (stop cheering!) I’m not actually going anywhere (stop booing at the back!) but how often do you get to see your family, friends, loved ones, even your pets? As often as you would like? Thought not.
Whilst going green is almost certainly one of the key drivers for Video Collaboration, the second is allowing people to actually benefit from less travelling by spending more time at home and achieving the 37.5 hours you swear you originally signed up for instead of the misprint of 87.5 hours you actually do…

Unified Communication = Laziness? – Let the debate begin!
Hello.
As a one word summary the above is strangely apt for describing the role I and others do as Solution Architects for Azlan and Computer 2000 as a whole.
Communication is an exceptionally loaded word these days but much like the days of ‘old’ where ink was applied to the proceeds of a felled tree and then placed into a red letter box, regardless of the method; punctuality and the manners portrayed by the written word has taken a backwards step in recent times. Much the same can be said for verbal communications, itself seemingly replaced by the need to dodge verbal contact and resort to Email or Instant Messaging as a result.

Divide but then no conquering…
One of the primary unique selling points of Unified Communications / Collaboration is the ability to unite previously separate technologies which in turn promotes greater efficiency or sometimes, laziness (see last weeks post).
This is all well and good but the greatest idea in the world is only as good as its weakest part. Put bluntly I’m talking about you….
In the current economic downturn more and more companies are turning to UC as a means to save money or indeed make more of it. As the age old mantra goes, in times of downsizing first the people go, quickly followed by the training budget.
